# What You'll Gather:

01 - 2 cups water.
02 - 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based).
03 - 4 cinnamon sticks (or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon).
04 - 4 vanilla beans, split and scraped (or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract).
05 - 2 star anise (optional).
06 - 4 teaspoons loose black tea or 4 tea bags (optional).

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Bring water to a boil in a pot.
02 - Add cinnamon, vanilla and star anise if using. Cover and turn off heat. Skip steeping time if using ground spices.
03 - Let spices steep 10 minutes. If using tea, add and steep 3-5 minutes more.
04 - Heat milk in separate pot until warm but not boiling.
