Black Forest Trifle (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 (9x13) chocolate cake or brownie (baked and cooled).
02 - 30 ounces cherry pie filling.
03 - 4 ounces kirsch or cherry liqueur.
04 - 2 boxes (90g each) chocolate pudding.
05 - 1 1/2 cups cold heavy whipping cream.
06 - 2-4 tablespoons powdered sugar.
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
08 - Fresh cherries (for garnish).
09 - Shaved chocolate (for garnish).
10 - Chocolate sprinkles (for garnish).
11 - Powdered sugar or cocoa for dusting (optional garnish).

# Instructions:

01 - Bake cake according to directions, cool completely. Cut cake into 1-inch cubes. Make pudding according to package directions, cool.
02 - Beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Mix until stiff peaks form.
03 - Layer half the cake cubes in trifle bowl. Drizzle with half the kirsch. Add half the pudding. Add half the cherry filling. Top with half the whipped cream. Repeat layers ending with cream.
04 - Cover and chill 1-4 hours or overnight. Garnish before serving with cherries, chocolate, and sprinkles.

# Notes:

01 - Can use store-bought whipped topping instead of homemade.
02 - Better when made ahead.
03 - Cherry juice can replace liqueur.
04 - Keeps well covered in fridge for 2 days.
