01 -
Heat your oven to 350°F and give a 13x9-inch glass baking dish a quick spray of cooking oil.
02 -
Heat up the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Toss in your chopped onions and cook them for about 3-5 minutes until they're soft and see-through, giving them a stir now and then.
03 -
In a bowl, mix together your cooked onions, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, 1 cup of cheese, 2 tablespoons of ranch mix, and black pepper. Fold in the shredded chicken until everything's well combined.
04 -
Spread half of the frozen Tater Tots in a single layer across the bottom of your baking dish.
05 -
Spoon all that creamy chicken mixture over the Tater Tots layer. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the bacon on top.
06 -
Put the rest of the Tater Tots in a ziplock bag with the remaining ranch mix. Seal it up and give it a good shake to coat them. Arrange these ranch-seasoned tots on top of the casserole.
07 -
Pop it in the oven and bake for 40 minutes.
08 -
Take it out and sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese and 1/4 cup of bacon over the top.
09 -
Back into the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is all melty and the tots are getting golden brown.
10 -
Top with fresh chopped tomatoes and green onions. Serve it up while it's hot and enjoy!
