Easy Homemade Chicken Chow Mein (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
02 - 12 ounces uncooked chow mein noodles
03 - 3 tablespoons cooking oil

→ Vegetables

04 - 2 cups shredded cabbage
05 - 1 large carrot, julienned
06 - ½ bunch green onions, chopped
07 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Sauce

08 - 6 tablespoons oyster sauce
09 - 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
10 - 3 tablespoons light sesame oil
11 - ½ cup chicken broth
12 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch
13 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk together oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, soy sauce, chicken broth, and cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth.
02 - Cook chow mein noodles following package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
03 - Heat oil in a large wok or pan over medium heat. Cut chicken into strips and cook until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
04 - In the same pan, cook carrots, cabbage, and garlic until vegetables soften and cabbage becomes slightly translucent.
05 - Add the chicken and noodles back to the pan. Pour the sauce over everything and cook for 2 more minutes until well combined and hot.
06 - Top with chopped green onions and serve hot right from the pan.

# Notes:

01 - When using pre-cooked chow mein noodles, you'll need about 1 pound.
02 - Use light (not toasted) sesame oil for the best flavor.
