Classic Sticky Toffee Pudding (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Pitted dates, chopped (1 cup/200g).
02 - Boiling water (1 cup).
03 - Baking soda (1 teaspoon).
04 - All-purpose flour (1 cup/125g).
05 - Baking powder (1 teaspoon).
06 - Salt (1/4 teaspoon).
07 - Ground cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon).
08 - Unsalted butter, softened (1/2 cup/115g).
09 - Brown sugar (3/4 cup/150g).
10 - Large eggs (2).
11 - Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon).
12 - Butter for sauce (1/2 cup/115g).
13 - Brown sugar for sauce (1 cup/200g).
14 - Heavy cream (1 cup/240ml).
15 - Vanilla for sauce (1 teaspoon).

# Instructions:

01 - Soak chopped dates with boiling water and baking soda for 15-20 minutes.
02 - Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8-inch square pan.
03 - Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
04 - Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla. Mix in dates and dry ingredients.
05 - Pour in pan, bake 30-35 minutes until done.
06 - Melt butter, add sugar and cream. Cook until smooth, add vanilla.

# Notes:

01 - Can add rum or bourbon to sauce.
02 - Tastes better next day.
