Italian Christmas Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 eggs.
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar.
03 - ½ cup unsalted butter, softened.
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract.
05 - 3½ cups all-purpose flour.
06 - 4 teaspoons baking powder.
07 - 2 cups powdered sugar.
08 - ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
09 - 3 tablespoons milk.
10 - Nonpareil sprinkles for decoration.

# Instructions:

01 - Mix flour and baking powder in bowl, set aside.
02 - Cream butter, vanilla, and sugar until fluffy.
03 - Beat in eggs one at a time.
04 - Mix in flour mixture until combined.
05 - Knead dough until firm, not sticky.
06 - Wrap in plastic, chill 1 hour.
07 - Heat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
08 - Shape dough into 1-inch balls or 6-inch swirled ropes.
09 - Place cookies 2 inches apart on sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes until bottoms are light brown.
10 - Cool completely on wire rack.
11 - Mix glaze ingredients until smooth but runny.
12 - Dip cooled cookie tops in glaze. Add sprinkles while glaze is wet.
13 - Let glaze set 30-60 minutes.
