New Orleans Muffaletta Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 cup chopped fresh green olives.
02 - 1 cup chopped giardiniera or mixed pickled peppers.
03 - 1/2 cup diced roasted red peppers.
04 - 1 finely diced shallot.
05 - 2 tablespoons whole capers.
06 - 3 cloves minced fresh garlic.
07 - 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil.
08 - 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar.
09 - 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves.
10 - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano.
11 - 1 round Italian bread loaf (10-inch).
12 - 1/2 pound sliced capicola or ham.
13 - 1/2 pound thinly sliced mortadella.
14 - 1/2 pound sliced Italian salami.
15 - 1/2 pound sliced provolone cheese.

# Instructions:

01 - Combine chopped olives, giardiniera, roasted peppers, shallot, and garlic in a bowl. Pour in olive oil and vinegar, then sprinkle with basil and oregano. Mix well to blend flavors.
02 - Cut the bread horizontally and hollow out some of the inside to create space for filling.
03 - Spread the olive mixture evenly across both cut sides of the bread.
04 - Stack capicola, mortadella, salami, and provolone on the bottom half of the bread.
05 - Close sandwich, wrap in plastic, and press under a weighted pan for 1 hour. Cut into 8 wedges before serving.
