In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, and dry onion soup mix. Form into patties.

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the patties on both sides. Transfer to a slow cooker.

In the same skillet, sauté onions and mushrooms until tender. Add to the slow cooker.

In a bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup and beef broth. Pour over the patties in the slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until patties are cooked through and tender.

Serve the Salisbury steak with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
